Poker & TV

The game of poker has taken television by storm in recent years. The Travel Channel brought poker into the television spotlight with the World Poker Tour and a lot of other networks like ESPN, NBC, FSN, GSN, etc, have joined in.

If you think back a few years you will remember that ESPN actually televised poker before The Travel Channel. They would broadcast the World Series of Poker when there were less than 100 players entered. The problem is that no one watched it. Why? It was because you couldn’t tell what was happening. What changed poker and made it a truly great event to watch on television were the camera angles that show the player’s two hole cards. Poker then became more than watching a group of players sitting around the table. It became something to really watch as you could see player’s cards and watch them think. It became exciting.

Many new poker players have taken to going to online poker sites because of the appeal of TV poker. Everyone wants to try out something that is on TV. If you are one of the many new players there are some things to keep in mind as you go to the online poker sites. The regular casino player will find that the online game is much faster. You have so many more options online than in a casino. You can quickly shift from game to game online without a problem. You can also play multiple tables at the same time. It is so much easier and so much quicker to learn poker online than in a casino. Television has made poker a phenomenon that drives more players to the game every day.
