Online Poker Power Hand Play

There is nothing greater than getting a pair of aces to begin a hand of online poker. After all, there is a reason that such a hand is known as “pocket rockets.”

But with pocket rockets or other power hands comes the awesome responsibility of playing them well enough to maximize their potential and to get the most out of those hands. The ability of an online poker player to make the most out of power pocket hands is often what separates the winner from the loser at the end of the day.

A big part of how to play a power pocket hand is of course based on positioning. Along those same lines chip stacks will come into play. Another important factor is knowledge of the other card playing opponents at the table. The better you know their tendencies, the more you may be able to coax additional cash out of your power pocket hands.

A popular way to play a power pocket hand from late position is to “slow play” in which you would judge the actions of the other players at the table. Perhaps some of these players will think that they have a better hand than they actually do, while others may be bluffing with nothing. That is the advantage of playing from late position as you can often allow opponents to hang themselves.

On the other hand you may not want to play a power pocket hand too cool because you would also run the risk of allowing an opponent to end up with a great hand by the river that you otherwise could have chased away.

Balance is the key to a power pocket hand as you want to play with both strength and prudence.
